How to Tell If Tomorrow Is Garbage Day

Toronto doesn't have one city-wide garbage day. Collection runs on a set weekday for your zone — Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday — and on a two-week cycle:

Out every week:

  🟢 Green Bin (organics)

Out every other week (they alternate):

  🗑️ Garbage ....... one week
♻️ Recycling ..... the next week

So if tomorrow is your collection day, you're always putting out the green bin, plus either garbage or recycling. The quickest way to know which: remember what you set out last time — if it was garbage, tomorrow's is recycling. Or just use the lookup above.

If Tomorrow Is Your Day

  1. put bins at the curb after 8 PM tonight
(and no later than 7 AM tomorrow)
  2. green bin every week, plus garbage OR recycling
  3. keep bins off the sidewalk and road
  4. handles facing the street

Downtown overnight-collection areas are the exception — they set out after 6 PM and before 9 PM. The lookup reflects your actual zone.

Real-Time Collection — Common Questions

Is tomorrow garbage day in Toronto?

It depends on your address. Toronto collects on a set weekday on a two-week cycle, so whether tomorrow is your day is decided by your zone. Your green bin goes out every week; garbage and recycling alternate. Enter your postal code above to see if tomorrow is a collection day.

How do I know if tomorrow is garbage or recycling?

Garbage and recycling alternate every other week, so tomorrow is one or the other, never both. If you put out garbage last collection day, this one is recycling — and vice versa. The lookup above shows exactly which bins go out on your next date, or check the this-week checker.

What time do I put the bins out the night before?

Set your bins at the curb no earlier than 8:00 PM the night before, and by 7:00 AM on collection morning. If tomorrow is your day, put them out tonight after 8 PM.

Is there collection tomorrow if today is a holiday?

Almost always yes — Toronto collects on nearly every statutory holiday, so a holiday does not push your day. The only exceptions are the weeks of Christmas Day and New Year's Day, when collection shifts forward by one day. See the holiday schedule.
