Toronto Garbage Collection Holiday Schedule

when a stat holiday falls on or before your collection day, everything shifts forward by one day that week. here are the holidays that affect pickup.

How Holiday Delays Work

the rule is simple:

  if a holiday falls ON or BEFORE your
  collection day that week, your pickup
  moves forward by one day.

example:
  labour day is monday, sep 7, 2026.

  monday pickup    → moves to tuesday
  tuesday pickup   → moves to wednesday
  wednesday pickup → moves to thursday
  thursday pickup  → moves to friday
  friday pickup    → moves to saturday

note: if two holidays fall in the same week
(like christmas + boxing day), collection
may shift by two days.

Seasonal Collection Notes

  🌿 Yard Waste
     collected March through December.
     no yard waste pickup in Jan or Feb.
     bundled branches must be under 75 cm
     and tied with string (no wire).

  🎄 Christmas Trees
     collected in January only.
     remove all decorations and stands.
     no bags — just put the tree at the curb.
     trees over 2 metres: cut in half.
