How the Oakville Collection Schedule Works

Oakville (Halton Region) doesn't collect the whole city on one day — every address has its own regular collection weekday, and two houses in different parts of the city can go out on different days. What's the same everywhere in Oakville is the rhythm:

🟢 green bin (organics) ..... every week
♻️ blue box recycling ....... every week
🗑️ garbage (up to 3 bags/cans) ..... every other week
🌿 leaf & yard waste ....... seasonal (see below)

So on a garbage week you set out the green bin, recycling and garbage together; on the in-between week it's just the green bin and recycling. The lookup above shows exactly which one is next for your address, pulled live from the Region's collection calendar.

What Time to Put Bins Out

Have your bins and bags at the curb by 7:00 AM on your collection day, and no earlier than 5 PM the night before. (Source: halton.ca waste collection schedule.)

Leaf and Yard Waste in Oakville

Leaf and yard material is collected from the first week of April to the second week of December, riding along on your regular garbage day (so, every other week), on your regular collection day. The autumn stretch is when it matters most — rake early in the week so bags aren't sitting through wind and rain before pickup.

Where the Lookup Works

The postal-code lookup covers addresses across Oakville, including Old Oakville, Bronte, Glen Abbey, River Oaks, West Oak Trails, Iroquois Ridge, College Park, Clearview, Palermo and Kerr Village — anywhere with postal codes starting with L6H, L6J, L6K, L6L and L6M. It reads the Region's own collection calendar for your address, so the dates are the real ones, not an estimate.
